Starting with the basics, let's see what is automated testing ..
Automated testing is the process of running part of whole of the software testing activity by using automation tools. The tools fall into either the freeware or licensed category. The usage of tools are used in defect tracking, load and performance testing, static analysis, test coverage, test implementation and test case management.

A test automation framework is a set of assumptions,concepts, and practices that provide support for automated software testing.
So is a framework or methodology built to successfully carry out test automation
